Which TVs Netflix Recommends for 2016?

The Netflix "Recommended TVs" program goes global following initial US launch last year, and in celebration the TV streaming provider has a pair of first vendor recommendations for 2016-- Sony and LG.

Netflix Recommended TVsThe global update for Netflix Recommended TVs involves a stricter set of criteria than those seen in 2015. These ensure optimal video streaming through features such as Instant On (TV wakes up quickly, internet and smart menu are ready to use immediately) and TV Resume (if Netflix was the last used app, the TV returns to Netflix when switched back on).

TVs also require faster performance, easy access to popular services (preferably via dedicated Netflix button on the remote) and, perhaps obviously, the latest version of the Netflix app.

The Sony models certified as good enough by Netflix include the X850D, X930D and X940D series, all models running on Android TV. On the other hand the LG models achieving Netflix standards (the C6, G6, E6, UH6100, UH6300, UH6500, UH8500 and UH9500) run on WebOS. All the models should be available in the countries with Netflix access, meaning most of the known world.

The 2015 set of Netflix Recommended TVs came from Hisense, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp and Vizio-- all vendors failing to make the cut for 2016, at least so far.
