Epson Intros Four 4K HDR-Ready Projectors

Epson announces not one, not two but four home cinema projectors-- the flagship Pro Cinema 6040UB and 4040, and the 5040UB and 5040UBe, all featuring 4K capability and HDR support.

Epson projectorThe projectors have a 1920x1080 native resolution, but Epson 4K Enhancement Technology shifts each pixel diagonally by 0.5 pixels, effectively doubling resolution to 3840x2160. As such, the projectors accept 4K input signals and display content with HDR. Also included is 3D support.

Further improvements include a new lens assembly complete with a lens memory recall of up to 10 positions for zoom, focus and lens shift (up to ± 96.3 percent on the vertical axis and ±47.1 percent on the horizontal axis) and a non-inverting optical engine for better colour uniformity.

The flagship Pro Cinema 6040UB meets the ISF Certification standard and features built-in ISF calibration tools and specific ISF picture memory modes, such as ISF Day and ISF Night. It is rated at 2500 lumens with a dynamic contrast ratio of 600000:1.

The 5040UB and 5040UBe also offer 2500 lumens brightness with a dynamic contrast ratio of 600000:1, with the 5040UBe featuring the addition of Wireless HD technology for the cable-free beaming of 4K content to the projector. Meanwhile the 4040 has 2300 lumens brightness and a dynamic contrast of 160000:1.

All the above mentioned Epson projectors are available from August 2016.
