JVC Claims "Smallest Ever" 4K D-ILA Projector

JVC announces the DLA-Z1 at IFA 2016-- a next generation native 4K D-ILA projector the company describes as the smallest yet, featuring a "Blu-Escent" laser light source and unique dynamic light source control.

DLA-Z1According to the company the projector can handle large screens over 200-inch in size, while the light source delivers brightness reaching up to 3000 lumens and 20000 hours operational life time. Also included is a Cinema Filter with wide colour gamut of 100% DCI P3 and over 80% coverage of BT.2020.

Meanwhile the newly developed all glass lens features an aluminium barrel and 100mm diameter (compared to the conventional 65mm) for the full projection of 4K resolution content to every corner of the screen while retaining a wide 100% vertical, 43% horizontal shift range. JVC is also adopting 5 anomalous dispersion lenses in accordance to the different refractive index of R/G/B light, the chromatic aberration and colour fringing when shifted can be minimised.

Further features include a matte black paint job (reduces reflections in pitch black theatre room), a professional level air filter and flexible rear intake/front exhaust for fitting in different installation environments. The projector lacks e-shift technology for the upscaling of standard and HD content, but JVC says the new setup automatically upscales all SD/HD signals to 4K without need for e-shift.

Making installation easier are 10 customisable preset modes for the management of settings such as lens memory, pixel adjust and screen mask.

The DLA-Z1 should be available in European markets from November 2016.
