Hisense Intros 80-inch Laser TVs

Hisense announces a (relatively) lower-cost Laser TV-- the L5 Laser TV, essentially a short-throw projector with a built-in over-the-air (OTA) tuner and speakers able to beam an 80-inch image.

Hisense laser TVThe L5 is a smaller version of the 100L8D, a laser TV able to project a 100-inch 4K resolution image. Launched globally just in time for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the L5 promises 400 nit brightness and ships complete with a "custom-made" DNP high gain anti-light hard screen promising a clear imagery no matter the ambient light conditions.

The company says the result is a display one can watch comfortable even from distances as close as 3m. However it does not specify the projection resolution, although we believes it clocks at 4K (at least judging from a "4K" label on a press photo), or details involving connectivity or support for image formats such as HDR10. What the L5 does have is a set of smart TV features, including a sports mode and screenshot capability.

That said, the L5 is already available in Hisense's home China, with more global markets to follow soon.
