KanexPro announces the Active Optical Cable (AOC)-- an HDMI 2.0 cable with ethernet up to 18Gbps. It accepts the same electrical inputs as traditional copper cables, but uses optical fibre to extend HDMI signals with zero loss or latency.
According to the company the AOC handles uncompressed 4K resolution video with 32 audio channels for multi-dimensional immersive audio with up to 1536kHz sample frequency. The cable comes in 30, 50 or 100m lengths, and has an integrated USB connected to draw power from the display and dynamic synchronisation of video and audio streams.
Also supported is sub-sampling rates of 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 YUC with deep colour and HDR. The cable is resistant to EMI and RF interference to provide noise-free audio and video, and it is HDCP compliant with support for wide angle theatrical 21:9 video aspect ratio, 3D and 4Kx2K.
