Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is the next company to take on the potentially lucrative smart home arena as it presents the Smart Home Suite, a quartet of security devices customers can control via smartphone app.
The suite consists of a human motion sensor, a pair of door and window sensors, and a "smart module" for the remote control of various household appliances. Bringing all together is the obligatory gateway providing connection with smartphones and the like via wifi.
“In the past, motion sensors were very complicated and large in size, so that if you wanted a system you needed professional installation,” Xiaomi president Bin Lin tells Bloomberg. “For this suite, there is not a single nail or wire. These components are all very simple.”
