Bowers & Wilkins announces the 6th version of the 600 series speakers-- the next generation features 4 speakers and matching subwoofers offering higher-end technology from the flagship 800 series Diamond range.
Technologies found in the 600 series include Continuum Cone midrange drivers, developed to improve on the transparency and accuracy of the Kevlar cone, and an updated version of the Decoupled Double Dome Tweeter paired with paper cone low-frequency drivers promising "rich, powerful" bass response.
The 600 series consists of the 607 and 606 standmounters, the 603 3-way floorstander and the HTM6 centre speaker. The 603 boasts an FST midrange driver using the Continuum cone, plus dual paper cone bass drivers. Meanwhile the HTM6 features dual 130mm bass drivers. On the subwoofer side the 600 series offers 3 subwoofers, the ASW608, ASW610 and ASW610XP, in 8-and 10-inch 200/500W configurations.
The N950 offers what Samsung claims is the channels in a soundbar, being a 7.1.4 model. It consists of a main unit, four speakers and two wireless sound sound speakers, a built-in wireless subwoofer and a rear wireless speaker kit. Meanwhile the N850 is a 5.1.2-channel model, and offers a main unit speaker and a woofer.
The line-up consists of 3 models available in 2 finishes, high gloss black and high gloss white. The P4m carries a 6-Bar orientable Planar magnetic driver (the same as the sage ICS7-a), paired with two 5-inch drivers. Mounted vertically the P4m precisely matches the height of the most popular 65-inch TVs available on the market, while the rear portion of the cabinet allows for cable management for a clean look.
In terms of looks the Galaxy Home is an odd one, being a fabric-covered bulb-shaped device sitting on top of three stubby metal legs. The flat top has buttons for track skipping and volume control, and inside are 6 speakers and a subwoofer able to produce virtual surround audio, together with 8 far-field microphones for voice input.
A suspended-by-wire mounting design isolates the subwoofer from the ceiling grid. A 10-inch driver within a 4th order bandpass, plenum-rated enclosure, delivers bass. Further features include a 10-inch driver with 800W of continuous program power handling capability, all inside a rigid composite enclosure.
Made by fellow Italian and audio specialist iXoost (pronounced like "exhaust"), the P Zero Sound features a 6.5-inch aluminium rim framing a 25mm inch silk tweeter and 10cm mid/bass driver, and powering it is a 100W amplifier and digital signal processor. Wireless connectivity comes through Bluetooth 4.0 with AptX.
The PRO-1200SW is a 12-inch in-wall subwoofer aimed at new construction in standard 16-inch OC bays. It features a long-throw Cerametallic woofer with reverse rolled surround providing dynamic, balanced and low frequencies in a behind-the-drywall design keeping it hidden from view. It joins the existing PRO-1000SW (10-inch woofer) in-wall subwoofer in the series.
