ISF Certification for Draper TecVision

  • PDF

Draper announces its TecVision Engineered Screen Technology lineup is certified by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) for "excellent colour reproduction and fidelity" at ISE 2015.

Draper TecVisionSuch certification requires the screen to have flat spectral response-- or colour fidelity. In other words, the screen cannot affect the image enough for the human eye to perceive.

Traditional projection screens use blue tints to fool the human eye that images are brighter than they actually are. However this affects the greens and reds required to build colour-accurate images, at least according to Draper.

SIM2 Teams Up in Laser Projection

  • PDF

Italian projector maker SIM2 Multimedia announces a team up with China's Shanxi OV-LaserTec in the development of a "breakthrough" projector based on SIM2's Alphapath platform and OV-LaserTec's pure-laser despeckle technology.

SIM2 LasesrThe co-development still lacks a name, but according to the two companies it will deliver up to 12000 lumens of brightness and expanded colour gamut within a smaller, lower-cost form factor.

The OV-LaserTec RGB laser light illumination engine uses speckle reduction technology to eliminate first speckle, speckled speckle and colour speckle from the screen, with no optical power loss. It features a dust-free structure and an accurate cooling system to provide reliability and safe performance. The technology is combined with a re-engineered version of the SIM2 Alphapath engine and SIM2 calibration software to ensure smooth performance even in 3D mode.

Futuresource: EMEA Projectors Grow in Q3

  • PDF

The EMEA projector market sees Q3 2014 shipment growth of 2% Y-o-Y on shipments reaching 584000 units, Futuresource Consulting reports-- growth largely retained within the installation and large venue segments.

FuturesourceFueling such growth are the successful launches of products from the likes of Epson, NEC and Panasonic. According to the analyst the 5000-7000 lumens category is up by 40% Y-o-Y to 13000 units.

Also helping is a less-than-expected -10% decline in XGA volumes, as bolstering sales of such products are end-of-line product discounts in MEA territories. As a result XGA market share is down by 4 percentage points to 32%.
