Shipping kicks off for the BenQ GP20 Ultra-Lite LED projector, a compact 1.5kg number able to project 40-inch images from just 1m distance with 700 ANSI lumens brightness and native WXGA (1280x800) resolution.

It features a pair of 3W speakers with built-in SRS surround sound, as well as 3D-ready projection, MHL connectivity to mirror content from compatible devices and 2GB of on-board memory (expandable to up 32GB via SD card slot).

Texas Instruments reveals the 0.3-inch HD Tilt & Roll Pixel (TRP) DLP Pico chipset at Mobile World Congress 2014-- the smallest micro-mirror array from the company, able to generate 720p display from compact applications.

Designed for use in mobile devices, wearable displays, augmented reality displays, interactive surface computing, digital signage and control panels, the chipset leverages proprietary TRP DLP architecture and adaptive IntelliBright algorithms to deliver higher brightness and lower power consumptions than previous DLP Pico chipsets.

In addition fast switching speeds enable true colour RGB engines with 120Hz video performance.

BenQ brought to ISE 2014 a new range of projectors (as well as LCD monitors, interactive flat panels for digital signage for business and education).

An edge-blended arch, 4.5m high and 8m wide, hung above the Optoma stand at ISE 2014.

The giant arch (with four ProScene EH7700 projectors with WT1 lens, two GB200 (blend/warp processors and a Watchout playback system) demonstrates Optoma’s high resolution edge-blending solution.

Each ProScene EH7700 projector generated a Full HD image, and then blended creating a seamless image at 8K resolution. The EH7700’s features make it ideal for edge-blending purposes, including dual lamp operation, high brightness 7500 lumens, WUXGA resolution, 5x motorised lens options and brightness matching.

ISE saw the launch of its first full HD LED projector and a new LED lighting range for commercial use, as well as gaming applications.

SIM2 launches a projector ideal for customers with big(ger) media rooms-- the SIRIO 2014 Edition, a 3D-capable single-chip DLP number designed for large home theatres and even multiple screens.

It uses a 350W dual-lamp design, improved light-tuned optical elements and a choice of 5 lenses (standard short fixed lens with 0.77:1 throw ratio, optional 4 short-throw lenses with ratios ranging from 1.12 to 6.97:1) to project images at 7000 ANSI lumens, allowing for brighter daytime viewing without the screen reflections flat panel TVs suffer from.

Further features include crisp image generations, vibrant and stable colours, Perfect Fit technology, remote management, upgrading, control and servicing via IP, SIM2 AUTOCAL auto-calibration and custom-calibration capabilities.

ELMO Europe SAS introduces BOXi MP-350, calling it “the first short-throw focus pico projector on the market”.

Designed with a 7 second start and set-up to please mobile users, the BOXi MP-350 is a compact, premium Japanese design, 300-lumen pico projector that gives users HD (WXGA) resolution for presentations or entertainment use.

With a footprint of less than six inches square and weighing just 500 gm, the BOXi MP-350 is small enough to slip into a briefcase or laptop bag-- yet delivers a bright 68” diagonal image, with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio.
