LG follows up on the 84-inch Ultra HD (UHD) TV first seen at CES 2013 with a pair of LA9700 series additions-- one 55-inch and the other 65-inch, both set for initial launch in the UK and Russia later this year.
“The Ultra HD TV format is here to stay," LG CEO Havis Kwon says. "With the new sizes offering NANO FULL LED backlighting and our proprietary Tru-ULTRA HD Engine, these models are in a class of their own.”
As well as UHD resolutions the LA9700 TVs promise "exceptional" regular HD content upscaling, deeper blacks, consistent brightness and contrast, accurate colour expression and a 178-degree viewing angle via advanced IPS panel.
Both models also carry a 4.1 channel sound system within a forward-facing sliding customers can extend when the TV is on and retract when off, and a webcame built into the bezel for Skype conferencing.
Further features include the usual selection of online Smart TV applications, Tag On NFC-based device pairing, gesture control via LG's Magic Remote and WiDi and Miracast screen mirroring.
