ULE AllianceThe ULE Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, reports the success of the fifth ULE Interoperability (IOP) test event. Chipsets from all three ULE chipset vendors Dialog Semiconductor, DSP Group and Lantiq were used during the IOP testing.

The ULE Alliance promotes the worldwide allocation and market adoption of the ULE technology, which it believes can be the leading control network ecosystem for home and building use because it is based on the proven range and reliability of the DECT radio technology.

That’s right. DECT.

DECT stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications and denotes a radio technology suited for voice data and networking applications with range requirements up to a few 100 meters. You may already have a DECT phone is your home.

Now they believe ULE can be used for many end applications where reliable in-house communications is required. The Alliance will focus on three initial application segments for ULE technology: Home Automation, Security and Climate Control.

“ULE is the best-of-class technology which represents the next evolution in home networking. ULE will revolutionize the connectivity between home appliances and will put control in the hand of the end user to significantly reduce the energy consumption”, says Andreas Zipp, Board member of the ULE Alliance. “We believe that ULE will bring new growth opportunities in a sizeable market with many exciting applications.”
