  • PDF

Meridian launches a successor to its first digital surround controller, the S65-- the G65, a 19-input surround processor armed with 8 SpeakerLink digital (RJ45) and 8 analog balanced (XLR) outputs.

Meridian G65Inputs include 1 MMHR (Meridian Multichannel High Resolution) port designed to accept audio from an own HDMI switcher, 2 SpeakerLink inputs, 6 S/PDIF inputs, 2 Toslink ports and 8 analog phono (RCA) ports.

In addition it also includes a 12V tripper, IR port and control via USB and RS232.

The G65 features the full range of Meridian DSP presets, including cinema, discrete and a Trifield system setting using the entire surround playback system to push an immersive listening experience from 2-channel content. According to the company Trifield decodes the stereo stage for left, centre and right front-stage loudspeakers (instead of solely left and right) for a more stable image.

Meridian says the DSP engine consists of 4 Freescale processors delivering 750 MIPS (million instructions per second), with all processing carried out at high sampling rates at up to 48-bit precision. The DSP also handles a bass management system able to support up to 3 separate subwoofers and 60 filters created by Meridian Room Correction software.
