Standards for AV Architectural Floor Plan Symbols

J-STD-710

If you haven’t caught up with this yet, there’s a new standard for design documents.

The new standard is called J-STD-710 (Audio, Video, and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols). CEDIA, CEA, and InfoComm joined forces to create this ANSI standard for residential and commercial A/V architectural floor plan symbols.

J-STD-710 maps out a set of symbols to allow past, present, and emerging technology to be documented.

The new standard will universalize how icons are used so reading design documentation will become much, much easier. By adding attributes in specific parts of each icon, finding critical information on a project should become much more streamlined-- and that hopefully will increase our efficiency and accuracy.
