Blu-ray Players from Harman Kardon

Harman Kardon launches the BDS 580 and BDS 280 networked entertainment systems-- a pair of Blu-ray players armed with built-in MHL, AirPlay and DLNA connectivity for out-of-the-box smartphone and tablet support.

BD 250The players handle 3D Blu-rays, Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs, while the MHL input allows the addition of devices such as smartphones or the Roku Streaming Stick.

Control comes through either remote or Harman Remote app. Audio format support includes Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Volume, DTS Digital Surround, Harman Kardon Natural Surround Processing (NSP) and EzSet/EQ III auto-calibration.

The BDS 580 is the more high-end option, being a 5.1 system with five 65W-per-channel amplifiers, 20Hz to 20kHz (±0.5dB), -90dB signal-to-noise ratio, Harman Kardon DSP and subwoofer preamp output channel. Further inputs include 3 HDMI (one with HML), FM tuner and front/rear-facing USB ports.

Meanwhile the BDS 280 is a 2.1 Blu-ray system with two 65W-per-channel amplifiers, as well as Harman Kardon TrueStream, 20Hz-20kHz (±0.5dB) frequency response and signal-to-noise ratio of -90dB. Harman Virtual Surround provides a virtual 5.1 surround experience using just two speakers.
