Pioneer's First Dolby Atmos Speakers

  • PDF

Pioneer announces its first Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers-- a system consisting of bookshelf, centre channel, floorstanding speakers and subwoofer, all designed by Pioneer chief speaker engineer Andrew Jones.

Pioneer speakersThe speakers in question are the S-BS73A-LR bookshelf, S-C73A centre channel and S-FS73A floorstanding. All feature a single point source CST driver, a 3-way design consisting of 5-1/4-inch aluminium woofers, 4-inch aluminium midrange and 1-inch soft dome tweeter. The bookshelf and floorstanding speakers also carry an integrated 4-inch CST speaker to provide height information without need for separate ceiling speakers.

Meanwhile the channel speaker features a front-mounted 5-inch passive radiator, allowing either positioning close to a wall or mounting in a cabinet or entertainment centre.

The S-71W subwoofer is 160W RMS (280W peak) rated. It supports all .1 and .2 speaker configurations and features a downward-firing 25cm driver inside a bass-reflex cabinet.

“With Dolby Atmos, audio technology has finally caught up with today’s visual advancements of 3D or even 4K,” Pioneer says. “Our Dolby Atmos enabled speakers allow for a customer to enjoy a full Dolby Atmos experience with the same footprint as a traditional 5.1 channel system simply by adding four more speaker wires to deliver a sonic experience overhead.”

The Pioneer Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker system is available from January 2015.
