Fibaro plans to go to extreme lengths-- or rather, heights-- to prove how well its automation products operate by having mountain climber Mariusz Malkowski control his smart home from the heights of Mt. Everest.
Malkowski works in the home automation industry, and as such he is an enthusiast for the technology. So much so he already performed similar Himalayan stunts back in 2011, with a climb up Ama Dablam (6812m), and 2013, when he demoed Z-Wave product control from atop Cho Oyu (8201m) at CEDIA Expo.
"Himalayan expeditions were not only a chance to test his own capabilities as a climber, but also to prove that Z-Wave is the best protocol for home automation," Fibaro claims.
What will Malkowski do once he climbs all of Everest's 8848m? He will produce an iPad from his backpack and, presuming the roof of the world has an internet connection, check on his home sensors and maybe turn the lights on and off.
For the curious, Malkowski's house is in the US, specifically New Jersey.
The Fibaro Everest Challenge kicks off from 15 April 2015.
