Okyo portable DACThe device features a micro USB type-B input allowing to act as an asynchronous DAC when connected to PCs without need for drivers, and a switching optical/coax/analog input able for digital signals from connected devices.

It can operate as a standalone music player with up to 128GB storage (via microSD slot), and can output high-resolution PCM and 5.6MHz DSD audio saved on smartphones via companion Onkyo HF Player app and either USB (Android) or Lightning (iDevices) connection.

The app also imports and plays files in other formats, and includes a 16384-band FIR equaliser allowing users to create custom EQ settings for specific artists, genres or albums.

The headphone amplifier inside the device is the high-end MUSES8920 op-amp ("a discrete, high-quality audio component with an optimized circuit layout to ensure signals are amplified with minimal distortion," Onkyo says), while the DAC is a 192 kHz/32-bit TI Burr-Brown PCM1795.

Onkyo adds the internal battery powers up to 7 hours of playback on a single charge. Construction is in aluminum and comes complete with knurled volume control knob, bump protectors and a positive action gain switch.
