Stewart Filmscreen announces the passing away of president and CEO Grant Stewart on 27 October 2015, age 60, following a battle with cancer.
A 3rd generation company leader, Grant was the grandson of founder Roy Stewart. Under his leadership the company developed products including the Director's Choice screen line, the LuminEsse "edgeless" rigid front projection system and the value-positioned Cima line.
Grant is survived by his wife Mary, who retains ownership of the company, their 2 children, his father Pat and the rest of the Stewart family. Cousins Tom and Don Stewart will join Mary to guide day-to-day operations.
“During this difficult time, we would like to thank all our employees, reps, dealers, and supporters for their many years of devotion to the Stewart product line and to the Stewart family, in particular,” Don Stewart says. “Wednesday was a sad day in our company’s history. We have lost a great leader, an innovator in the industry, a devoted family member, and a close friend. We ask you to please keep Grant’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through the grieving process."
Currently there are no plans for a public memorial service, but contributions can be made in Grant Stewart’s name to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX or to the US Biathlon Team in New Gloucester, ME.
