McIntosh Presents "Entry-Level" MT2 Turntable

  • PDF

McIntosh announces the MT2-- an audiophile-grade turntable able to play both 33.3 and 45rpm records the company claims ships "virtually ready to use out of the box."

McIntosh MT2The MT2 features tracking force, anti-skate force, cartridge overhang and arm height preset in the factory, and as such should be plug 'n' play. It has a moving coil cartridge with sufficient output for compatibility with both moving coil phono inputs and moving magnet equivalents, with a design combining an alloy cantilever with an elliptical diamond stylus.

Meanwhile the tonearm is built out of "lightweight yet rigid" dural aluminium with damping materials. The belt-driven outer platter is 25.4mm thick and made from "dynamically balanced" polyoxymethylene, and the inner platter is made of CNC-precision milled aluminium. The power supply is completely decoupled from the chassis to further reduce mechanical interference.

The MT2 ships with a wood base plinth with a black laquer finish, and a subtle green glow emanates from under the platter. It comes complete with contoured dust cover.
