  • PDF

JVC has 4K projector range on show at IFA 2018-- including the DLA-NX9, an 8K e-shift home theatre model the company claims is the first able to project an 8K image.

JVC IFA 2018The DLA-NX9 combines 8K e-shift pixel shifting with a 100mm diameter 18-element, 16-group all-glass lens to ensure high resolution into the extreme corner of the screen. Five low dispersion lenses suppress chromatic aberration and bleeding, while a variety of techniques reduce light scattering and light diffraction, improving brightness and black levels.

Also included is Auto Tone Mapping, a means to maximise HDR10 content by automatically adjusting settings based on HDR10 mastering information MaxCLL (Maximum content Light Level) and MaxFALL (Maximum Frame Average Light Level).

The JVC native 4K projector range has 2 other models-- the DLA-N7 and DLA-N5. All are powered using the latest JVC 0.69-inch 4K-DILA device initially seen in the flagship DLA-Z1 projector, and use a UHP mercury lamp. The DLA-NX9 is rated at 2200 lumens, while the DLA-N7 and DLA-N5 are rated at 1900 and 1800 lumens respectively, with BT2020 wide colour gamut and 10-bit gradation.

The DLA-NX9 offers 100000:1 native contrast, making a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 1000000:1. An intelligent lens aperture automatically controls black levels. The DLA-N7 offers native 80000:1/Dynamic 800000:1, and the DLA-N5 is native 40000:1/Dynamic 400000:1. The DLA-NX9 and DLA-N7 also carry a new cinema filter JVC says achieves a wide colour gamut beyond DCI-P3.

All the above mentioned JVC projectors ship from October 2018.
