  • PDF

Sony announces not one, not two but three 4K HDR home cinema projectors at CEDIA Expo 2018-- the VPL-VW995ES laser projector, the mid-tier VW665ES and entry-level VW295ES, all featuring IMAX Enhanced certification.

Sony projector CEDIAAs the premium model, the VPL-VW99ES carries an All Range Crisp Focus (ARC-F) lens, an 18-piece glass lens found in the first Sony 4K home projector, the VPL-VW1000ES, and the flagship VPL-VW5000ES. According to the company the ARC-F lens provides the best focus and resolution across the entire screen via Digital Focus Optimiser function. Peak brightness reaches 2200 lumens.

The VPL-VW695ES is the mid-tier model, with Picture Position Memory, 16:9, Cinemascope and brightness reaching 1800 lumens. Following is the VPL-VW295ES, a more affordable 4K HDR model with 1500 lumens brightness. VPL-VW695ES and the VPL-VW295ES are compact with 2.06 zoom and wide lens shift, and all 3 projectors use 4K Motionflow technology to display smoother and clearer motion by using extra frames to reduce blur.

As previously mentioned, the projectors are IMAX Enhanced-- a certification and licensing program bringing together Sony 4K HDR home cinema projectors and IMAX digital remastered 4K HDR content and DTS audio technologies.

The VPL-VW295ES, VPL-VW295ES and VPL-VW995ES hit the market on Q4 2018.
