Nest Thermostat E Arrives in Europe

  • PDF

Google-owned Nest brings the Thermostat E to Europe-- a lower-cost smart thermostat tweaked for European heating systems complete with installation simple enough to not require a boiler engineer.

Nest Thermostat EFirst released in the US around a year ago, the Thermostat E consists of 2 parts. The first component is a stand-mounted thermostat featuring the familiar Nest dial interface, while the second is a round boiler controller dubbed the Heat Link E. The thermostat has a large frosted showing current and target temperatures, and wirelessly communicates with the Heat Link E. Actual control involves either twisting the outer dial, companion iOS/Android app or voice control through Google Home.

Interestingly, the Thermostat E includes a pre-programmed schedule based on what Nest claims is typical heating use in Europe, even if it still learns a specific routine through regular use. As for installation, Nest says it takes around an hour to connect the Heat Link E to boiler wiring, and it also offers a Nest Pro installation service.

The Nest Thermostat E is available now in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
