Safera Adds Smarts to the Humble Stove

  • PDF

Finnish stove guard maker Safera takes to the IFA Global Press Conference 2019 to present what it describes as the "first complete smart cooking sensor"-- the app-connected Safera Sense.

Safera SenseAt first glance the Sense appears to be a fairly simple device. It features a slim, one-button design, and can be easily mounted above a cooktop, wall or under the cooker hood. However Safera says it carries a "powerful" processor able to analyse data from over 20 sensors allowing it to work out stove temperature, air quality, cooker power consumption and even human activity around the stove, and is compatible with both electric and gas stoves.

To display such data to the user, the Sense pairs with a companion app proving a visual timeline of events taking place during cooking. One can also setup timers based on past cooking events, and Safera says the system gets smarter the more it used. In addition, the app can also allow the Sense to actually control the stove through either connection with smart home systems (such as Google Home, Alexa and HomeKit) or the Safera Smart Cooker Controller. Pairing with a home automation system allows for remote stove control and checking, ensuring children or elderly parents use the stove safely.

The Safera Sense officially launches at IFA 2019.
