Crowdfunding the Boundary Security Systems

Edinburgh-based Boundary Technologies takes to Kickstarter to launch the Boundary Alarm, a security system promising easy and reliable operation, as well as adherence to British and European security standards.

Boundary alarmFounded by Robin Knox and Paul Walton, the two entrepreneurs behind IntelligentPOS (which was acquired by iZettle in 2016), Boundary Technologies promises to offer a smart and wireless security system. Homeowners can control the Boundary Security System via mobile device app. The system connects to the mobile phone network, and alerts users in case it detects intruders, even if the criminals manage to cut the phone lines and broadband connection.

The system is compatible with digital assistants, including Amazon Alexa and Google Home, and integrates with Philips Hue smart lighting, meaning it can automatically switch the lights on if it detects an intruder. Other integrations include Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings and IFTTT. As well as the smartphone app, customers can activate and deactivate the Boundary system through a traditional keypad or key fob.

“Gone are the days of alarm systems simply being a box with a flashing light stuck onto the side of your house. Criminals are becoming more sophisticated and homeowners need to stay a step ahead," the company says. “Being able to control your home security system in the same intuitive way as your central heating or music player will help to give you the edge over intruders. Boundary can even remind you to set your alarm when you leave the house."

As mentioned earlier, the Boundary system is currently available on a preorder basis on Kickstarter, where it managed to smash past an initial £50000 pledge goal in all of 48 hours. Once the crowdfunding campaign is over the company hopes to start shipping the device on March 2020.
