Chord Company Rolls Out EpicX Speaker Cable

  • PDF

Chord Company continues the rollout of XLP-technology speaker cables with the launch of EpicX, a replacement of the original PTFE-based Epic cable promising improved phase stability and better insulation materials.

EpicX cable

EpicX has a shielded design improving detail, dynamic, resolution and coherence. The design is based on the OdysseyX speaker cable, if with the key upgrade of three additional XLPE layers, making a very effective high-frequency combination shield. It also features ChordOhmic plugs, which is complemented by new "trousers."

In addition to factory termination, participating Chord Company dealers can professional terminate the cable using the ChordOhmic Hex Gun tool. The service not only delivers tailor-made lengths, but also jumps the build queue at the factory. Customers can also upgrade existing cables with the new plugs, trousers and terminations.

The transition to better quality insulation materials follows the introduction of the proprietary Chord Compay dielectric, Taylon, currently the preserve of the ChordMusic and Sarum T product lines. High manufacturing costs make Taylon exclusive to the highest-performing ranges, but XLPE delivers improved phase stability to a broader range of products.
