Belkin employs the audio know how of Devialet to bring about the Soundform Elite, a device one can safely describe as a smart speaker with a wireless charging pad on top, as well as a first audio product from a company better known for charging products.
“Belkin is excited about the potential that both the Soundform Elite Hifi Smart Speaker + Wireless Charger and the partnership with Devialet unlock for us as a brand,” the company says. “Our heritage in audio, leadership in fast wireless charging, and Devialet’s acoustic expertise allow us to make products for consumers that are both exceptional and convenient.”
Devialet, of course, is not new to smart speaker collaborations. After all, late last year it joined forces with Huawei to create the Smart X, another smart speaker with a distinctive cylindrical form factor. Whereas the Smart X employs the Huawei "Xiayi" smart assistant, the Soundform Elite uses Google Assistant, making it actually usable for Western customers (aside from those able to speak Mandarin Chinese, perhaps).
As well as Google assistant, the Soundform Elite promises up to 90dB SPL of max volume with SAM (Speaker Active Matching) technology providing high-fidelity sound reproduction. Meanwhile "Push-Push" woofer architecture cancels vibrations while ensuring deep bass from a smaller speaker. It also allows for steady wireless charging for Qi-enabled devices reaching up to 10W, without affecting bass levels.
The Soundform Elite ships on February 2020.
