Procella announces initial shipments of its two latest audio offerings, the compact P5 loudspeaker and the P12 subwoofer, will kick off from September 2014.

The P5 features a high-output 2-way design with a 5.25-inch woofer and a 1-inch compression driver mounted on a Procella-designed constant directivity waveguide.

According to the company the constant directivity waveguide produces a circular radiation pattern of 80 degrees above 2.2kHz, providing high levels of performance whether the speaker is mounted in either vertical or horizontal orientation.

A Procella Identical Voice crossover provides flat response and ultra-low group delay, and assures timbre match for seamless envelopment and 360-degree imaging when the P5 is used as a surround speaker with the Procella P8, P610, P815 and P850 main speakers.

The Wireless Speaker and Audio (WiSA) Association announces the addition of 6 members to its ranks-- Claridy Audio, Elytone Electronics, Enclave Wireless Audio, Fostex, Innovo Concepts and Monitor Audio.

The Association now has 30 member companies, and expects to announce the addition of more members in the coming days.

“The surge in membership and the adoption of WiSA-compliant products is a reflection of the Association’s category leading wireless audio solution,” WiSA president Tom Lee says. “WiSA members are able to deliver what consumers want, a full multi-channel, wireless home theater experience. Bang & Olufsen announces an "entry-level" wireless audio addition to the BeoPlay family-- the BeoPlay S8, a 2.1 speaker system featuring a sculpture-style subwoofer and a pair of circular satellites.

The 3 components are feature a seamless aluminium unibody designed by the man behind the BeLab 14 surround-sound setup, Torsten Valeur of David Lewis Designs.

Internally the sub carries an 8-inch bass driver and a class-D 280W amp to cover the 20-150Hz frequency range, while the satellites use 2.5-inch full-range drivers and a dedicated 140W class-D amp.

Customers can mount the satellites using the included wall brackets or table stands, and the sub features a switch to select between "wall" or "corner" positions.

Bluetooth speakers come in a variety of weird and wonderful shapes and sizes, but few are like the OM/One-- a spherical speaker makers OM Audio describe as "the world's first levitating Bluetooth speaker."

Essentially the OM/One consists of a 9cm diameter orb. It carries a "finely tuned" 75mm audio driver, and levitates when in contact with a companion magnetic base.

Levitation height totals around 3cm, and one can carry the orb speaker around for portable spherical audio.

Terra launches new CA series speakers-- flush mount all-climate speakers featuring a bezel-free design with visually less obtrusive edge-to-edge powder coated aluminium micro-perforated grilles.

“Many similar models use steel grilles with magnets to hold them on,” The company says. “The new aluminum CA grilles are a tight friction fit with a built-in safely lanyard for security under the most adverse vibration conditions. And they’ll never rust or corrode.”

The speakers also feature reconfigured crossover networks to "significantly" improve sound quality, smooth frequency response and increase efficiency.

Pioneer announces the P2-K/-S-- a compact component hi-fi system consisting of the SX-P01 stereo receiver, the N-P01 network audio player and a pair of matching 2-way speakers.

Described by the company as the "nerve centre and power station" of the system, the SX-P01 produces up to 2 x 75W of power, with a separate pre-amplifier block and power supply. It features "many" inputs and outputs and a built-in FM tuner, and is also available with a built-in DAB+ tuner (P2DAB or P1DAB).

Meanwhile the N-P01 handles audio streaming from PCs or NAS via either wired or wifi connection, as well as streaming from mobile devices via Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay and USB and access to vTuner internet radio and the Spotify streaming service.

Audio format support includes MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and DSD (2.8 MHz), with a built-in 192kHz/32-bit DAC handling high resolution audio playback.
