Customers demanding a glowing musical shower solution might be interested in the Shower Speaker, a speaker-equipped showerhead equipped with LED light sensors for the "ultimate shower experience."

Unlike other musical showerheads (such as the Kohler Moxie) the Shower Speaker features an LED ring with lights changing colour from blue to magenta and red according to the water temperature.

On the audio side it carries a removable 3W Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR speaker the maker promise provides up to 15 hours of music or talk on a single charge, with "outstanding" RF amplification and dual-microphone noise reduction.

French audio maker Devialet packages its recently launched Devialet 120 entry-level amplifier with Atohm (a fellow French audio maker) components in the Ensemble, a "compact, ultra-high definition hi-fi system."

The Atohm components included in the package are a pair of specially made GT1 speakers (each featuring a proprietary 28mm silk dome tweeter and a 150mm alloy mid/bass driver) and a set of 3.5mm speaker cables with connectors.

According to its makers the Devialet 120 features a "number of breakthrough technologies." These are ADH (Analogue Digital Hybrid) amplification and SAM (Speaker Active Matching), a means to match Devialet components with specific speakers via "sophisticated digital processing."

Terra offers upgraded higher-output transformers for its 70V AC and LS Series speakers-- doubling the voltage settings over the previously available units.

According to the company the upgrade results in a noticeable increase in sound and bass levels.

The updated transformers carry high iron content cores to dramatically reduce the chance of core saturation and advanced copper winding technology to enhance bass performance. An 8 ohm bypass switch position takes the transformer out of the circuit for maximum fidelity when used in non-70V applications.

A Hong Kong-based consortium agrees to acquire a majority shareholding in Danish wireless speaker company Libratone A/S. The consortium consists of financially strong Asian business people and Libratone’s management, including CEO and co-founder Tommy Andersen.

We talked with CEO Tommy Andersen about the acquisition and its business impact. Here's what we learned:

Libratone launched its first speaker in 2010 and has since recorded +60% compound annual growth rates (CAGR). 2014 revenue should exceed USD $20 million. The new owners intend to multiply the business and eventually build the basis for a public listing in Hong Kong.

By aligning the audio experience with modern lifestyle and using forms and colours in unconventional ways, Libratone manages to appeal to design-oriented, quality-conscious buyers. The company’s new ownership sees strong potential in leveraging the Libratone brand to launch additional wireless product categories.

Niles Audio announces the MRC-6430 whole-home audio controller-- a 6-source, 6-zone multi-room audio chassis combining multi-room audio with home theatre control via Niles' Auriel software and app.

Once installed the MRC-6430 delivers up to 30W to each zone, each with own bass, treble and volume control. Control  comes through Niles handheld remotes, 7-button keypad and touchpanel devices, as well as Windows/Mac PCs and mobile device app.

Setup is wizard-based, reducing installation and setup time in comparison to other multi-room systems.

The Auriel interface is based on the ELAN control platform and is TCP/IP-based, meaning it is ready for future expansion into lighting, remote management and HVAC control.

Triad announces the addition of the InRoom and On Wall Bronze to its SlimSub line, each featuring a proprietary long-throw 10-inch aluminum driver to provide deep bas at high volumes.

The compact InRoom Bronze SlimSub is just 11cm deep. When laid down it requires just 13cm of clearance, allowing installers to turn it into a down-firing subwoofer one can hide under furniture.
