Primare starts shipping the high-end 60 series-- namely the PRE60 preamplifier and the A60 power amplifier, both promising "traditional build quality and analogue circuit design with the finest digital processing."

Designed as a "complement to all high-end amplifiers," the PRE60 supports high-resolution audio streaming up to 24-bit/96kHz from online, network attached and desktop sources. A digital audio input allows connection to CD players and mobile devices, while further inputs include 2 balanced XLR and 4 RCA.

Outputs include 2 pairs of RCA, balanced XLR and record. Control comes through either included remote or iOS/Android app.

Swiss audio maker Lenco launches PlayLink, a multi-room audio system range incorporating Qualcomm's AllPlay wireless audio technology to stream both local and online content from iOS and Android devices.

AllPlay uses wifi, supports high resolution audio codecs and allows cross-platform compatibility with other audio devices featuring the technology. It is built on AllJoyn, an open source software framework enabling vendors to create products able to discover, connect and communicate with other AllJoyn-enabled products.

The PlayLink range features 3 products-- the PlayLink 4 and PlayLink 6 speakers, and the PlayConnect box.

Veteran audio manufacturer PS Audio takes to Kickstarter to present its latest take on integrated all-in-one amplifiers-- the Sprout, a device promising to be a "simple but high-quality hub of a home music system."

First seen last month in prototype form at the Munich High End Show, the Sprout is an compact yet high-quality audio hub. It carries a 50W channel integrated amp, a phono amp, 24-bit/96kHz asynchronous DAC and a headphone amp, and plays audio from sources including Bluetooth-enabled devices, turntables, game consoles, PCs (via USB) and CDs (via coax).

Case construction is in steel, aluminium and walnut.

Pioneer Electronics announces a lineup of Dolby Atmos-enabled, Andrew Jones-designed Elite speakers and Elite SC series home theater receivers, all Dolby Atmos upgradeable via firmware update available by end 2014.

As the company puts it the 2014 flagship Elite SC receivers with Dolby Atmos have the multi-channel processing and power required to fully create the Dolby Atmos effect.

"We’ve been at the forefront of every technology available for the home theater environment and we’re making a point to have the Dolby Atmos technology into the latest products that will captivate and transport audiences with multi-dimensional sound,” the company says.

Harman acquires Yurbuds, the "US market leader" in headphones ergonomically and functionally designed for use by athletes for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2008, Yurbuds is based in St. Louis and owns a portfolio of over 60 patents and 70 trademarks covering design and technology in headphones, wearables and more. Its products include the Inspire Limited Edition Wireless in-ear headphones armed with Bluetooth connectivity, 15mm drivers and "TwistLock" protection.

Post-acquisition the Yurbuds team will join the Harman Lifestyle division.

Dali launches the Rubicon loudspeaker family-- a range of 5 models claiming to push "mid-price" hi-fi speakers further by packing innovations from the flagship Epicon range.

The Rubicon lineup consists of the compact Rubicon 2, the floorstanding Rubicon 5, 6 and 8 and the on-wall Rubicon LCR. All carry 16.5cm wood fibre cones and Dali's SMC (soft magnetic compound) magnet motor system derived from the Epicon series, and bass ports for each woofer.

The Rubicon 5, 6, 8 and LCR also carry the Dali hybrid tweeter module-- a combination of 29mm soft dome and high performance ribbon tweeter the company says helps with sound dispersion.
