The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG), Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Recording Academy announce a formal definition for High Resolution Audio.
The definition is as follows-- “lossless audio that is capable of reproducing the full range of sound from recordings that have been mastered from better than CD quality music sources.”
The organizations also provides four Master Quality Recording categories describing the recordings made from the best quality music sources currently available, which are as follows:
