Landscape Series Gets Subwoofer

  • PDF

Sonance adds the HS10SUB 70V Hardscape subwoofer to the Landscape speaker series, ideal for incorporation with outdoor furniture or planter boxes.

Hardscape It features a sealed non-corrosive enclosure with construction in brown-textured HDPVC (High-Density Polyvinyl Chloride). One installs the enclosure above the ground, and can also build it into outdoor furniture or underneath vented planter boxes.

The 254mm polypropylene cone driver has a rubber surround and delivers a frequency response of 35-100Hz (±3dB). Sonance claims the speaker delivers scaleable "high quality audio" in challenging hardscape environments.

The HS10SUB works in combination with the LS10SUP in-ground subwoofer in installations demanding a combination of landscape and hardscape products to achieve an even sound stage.

Aperion promises "Hi-Fi via wifi" with the ARIS-- a wireless speaker using the AirPlay-style Play To streaming feature sitting inside Windows 7.

ARISThe ARIS connects to your customers' home networks through either wifi or ethernet. It is DLNA certified and offers 100W RMS of power.

Handling wired streaming is an axuliary jack at the back of the speaker.

Inside the single-piece brushed aluminium enclosure are x6 speakers (x4 powered drives and x2 passive radiators) with x3 sound modes (natural, bass boost and enchanced stereo).

For wireless control, Aperion offers an ARIS music app (for Android or iOS), while the speaker is also compatible with most other DLNA apps.

Four Audio’s Dante Breakout Box

  • PDF

 Four Audio

Four Audio launched its DBO1, a Dante-enabled breakout box with 8 analog output channels and allows the user to go from Dante to analogue signals in a 1U box.

Audinate's Dante protocol transports video and audio media over standard IT networks and promotes itself as a "true plug-and-play" digital audio network using standard Internet Protocols such as the AVB.

The DBO1 is operated by connecting to a Dante network and configuring the easy-to-use breakout box via the Dante Controller. The DBO1’s smart front panel displays allow easy detection of the network and signal status. The 120dB SNR, 18 dBu output level and integrated Dante redundancy mode means that the DBO1 covers a broad range of applications at very reasonable costs for its end-users.

Technomad Makes Loudspeakers with Heat from the Sun

Vernal and Vienna

Technomad says they've redefined sustainable AV with a new partnership that brings solar technology to its already-green plastic loudspeaker manufacturing process.

Technomad recently teamed up with LightManufacturing LLC, which developed a unique patent-pending method of molding plastic with solar heat. The company’s unique Solar Rotational Molding (SRM) systems eliminate greenhouse gasses associated with traditional rotational molding while reducing manufacturing costs -- an unusual combination in a world that equates 'green' with unaffordable.

The move slices production costs up to 30% while reducing the company’s carbon footprint -- and claims to introduce a revolutionary process to the professional AV space.

LightManufacturing now molds most of Technomad’s Vienna and Vernal loudspeakers at its California facility, with larger models to follow last this year, says Technomad.

LightManufacturing’s SRM process uses computer-controlled mirrors to concentrate heat from the sun onto a mold and melt the plastic inside. The sun’s thermal energy is used directly, avoiding the costs of making electricity with photovoltaic panels. The process delivers higher quality parts at a lower cost than traditional rotational molding, with typical savings of 10-30%. The nearly silent SRM systems use no natural gas or external AC power and the hardware costs less than traditional rotational molding systems.

KEF celebrates its 50 anniversary with further home audio ambitions-- the LS50 mini monitor, a tribute to the first speaker from KEF, the LS3/5A.

LS50The company promises the speaker delivers a "soundstage experience" through a compact form factor.

Alongside patent-pending acoustic designs the LS50 features a rose gold Uni-Q driver, a cabinet with constrained layer damping and a baffle shape the company says has smooth on- and off-axis dispersion.

It weighs 7.2kg and measures 30 x 20 x 28cm with grille terminal. Frequency range (-6dB) is 47-45kHz, with 79-28kHz (±3dB) frequency response. Maximum output is all of 106dB.

RTI announces the new 4-channel CP-450 and 16-channel CP-1650 audio amplifiers-- ideal for use with RTI's 8-zone AD-8 distributed audio system.

RTI AmpAdding 50W per channel (the AD-8 provides 25W per channel), the amplifiers extend speaker outputs in larger installations and carry the same Cool Power technology inside the AD-8's built-in class D amplifier.

The CP-1650 also offers audio input level adjustment on each channel, loop-in/loop-out connections (for simple daisy chaining) and bridgeable audio ouputs.

The CP-450 and CP-1650 are suitable for rack-mount or freestanding installations, with voltage trigger, RS-232 and IR power control options allowing for power control through different sources.

Russound launches the long awaited BSK Bluetooth Source Kit-- a wireless audio kit enabling the streaming of content from Bluetooth-enabled devices to any multiroom audio system, regardless of brand.

Russound BSKIt features a 2-piece design comprising of a Bluetooth transceiver and a separate audio interface receiver with built-in active balanced line driver, eliminating the need for external audio balun transformers. Installers can place units up to 90m apart using a single CAT5 cable.

Wireless Bluetooth signal range is up to 30m when installed in line-of-sight applications. 12-volt trigger input and output offers AV equipment control.

The kit also allows custom device naming and security passcode support through BSK-1 programming application.

Russound says the BSK is ideal for every kind of installation-- both residential and commercial.
