CEDIA 2016 sees Panamax present the VT4315 Pro-- the first full-featured, vertically-mounted, IP-enabled power conditioner from the company offering a new angle on the M4315-PRO BlueBOLT-enabled power conditioner.

The VT4315 Pro mounts vertically on the back of equipment, and leverages on BlueBOLT IP control technology to control 12 outlets in 8 banks (4 individually controlled outlets and 8 in paired duplex banks). As Panamax puts it, such a configuration enables remote monitoring and reboot in either real-time or via scheduled commands from the connected equipment in the rack.

Luxul announces the XWO-BKT1-- a high performance wireless bridge kit designed to help installers satisfy ever-increasing customer demand for better networks.

The XWO-BKT1 combines dual-band 802.11ac wifi technology with high output power to deliver high throughput 5GHz outdoor bridging along with 2.4Ghz coverage. The kit consists of 2 outdoor bridging APs and all necessary installation hardware, including PoE injectors, mounting brackets and water resistant cable glands.

KanexPro announces the HDMX44-4K and HDMX88-4K-- a pair of HDCP 2.2 matrix switchers with 4K @60Hz in either 4x4 or 8x8 configurations, both complete with ethernet, RS232 and IR control.

The 4x4 HDMI matrix switcher includes 4 inputs and 4 outputs with audio de-embedding, the latest HDCP 2.2 specs, support for video resolutions reaching up to 4096x2160 at 60Hz and switching of less than 0.2 seconds. The 8x8 version is identical spec-wise, but boasts 8 inputs and 8 outputs.

Just Add Power presents two additions to the 3G Ultra HD over IP platform at CEDIA 2016-- an entry-level 3G Ultra HD over IP transmitter (707POE) and a more affordable receiver model (508POE).

The two models include 4K with HDR support, HDCP 2.2, optional 4K to 1080p downscaling at the display location, 2-way RS232 and IP control and support for all audio formats up to and including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Installers and mix and match both 707POE and 508POE in the same gigabit network as other, more feature-rich 3G Ultra HD over IP transmitters and receivers, such as the 718AVP PoE TX, 717HIFI POE TX, 749AVP Rackmount TX and 518AVP POE RX.

MIT researchers propose a means to triple wifi data speeds while doubling signal range and ease increasingly congested wireless networks-- MegaMIMO 2.0, a system able to eliminate signal interference.

The technology uses a processor, real-time baseband processing system and a transceiver board to vary the frequency range of wifi signals within the required spectrum. This allows multiple independent transmitters to transmit data on the same spectrum to multiple independent receivers, without signals interfering with each other.

“In today’s wireless world, you can’t solve spectrum crunch by throwing more transmitters at the problem, because they will all still be interfering with one another,” the researchers say. “The answer is to have all those access points work with each other simultaneously to efficiently use the available spectrum.”

Netgear is the next company to follow the likes of Luma and Eero with a mesh-based home wifi system-- Orbi, a kit consisting of a router anda "satellites" the company claims cover up to 370 square metres once combined.

Both router and satellite are suitably curvy (as the new trend in home networking hardware dictates), and offer what Netgear describes as a "tri-bend mesh system." Essentially the router sends out three channels, one to extend internet to the satellite and two others to feed the connections of other devices.

The router supports 802.11ac wifi at speeds reaching up to 3Gbps, and ships pre-paired with the satellite fore asy setup. Once the system is installed the satellite can be placed anywhere, and the result is a unified network with a single user-selectable SSID. Also included in the router are a x4 Gigabit ethernet ports and a USB 2.0 jack, while setup options include parental controls with website black/whitelists and time permissions.
