Pakedge Device & Software launches an own fibre optic cable brand for residential and commercial AV projects, one designed specifically to work with the company's routers, switches and GBICs.

The cables should optimise network performance by providing an improved AV experience for the end-user, with less electromagnetic interference, greater speed capabilities (up to 10Gbps), greater bandwidth, greater durability, less signal degradation, elimination of heat dissipation and less transmission power.

Hosa Technology launches a means for easier interfacing of consumer products with professional equipment-- the Hosa Pro cable line and the Hosa Pro Breakouts.

According to the company the Hosa Pro Breakouts allow customers to seamlessly interface any consumer audio product equipped with a stereo minijack output with professional units sporting quarter-inch Tip/Sleeve, XLR or even RCA connectors.

Breakouts are available in 3 configurations-- the HMR-000Y series 3.5mm TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) to dual RCA option (ideal for DJ mixers and home strew systems), the HMP-000Y series 3.5mm TRS to dual 1/4-inch TS (tip/sleeve) breakout (can be plugged into patch bays or mixer phone inputs) and the HMX-000Y series 3.5mm TRS to dual XLR3M breakout (for connecting into discrete channels on professional mixers).

The DVIGear High Resolution DisplayPort copper cables transport DisplayPort signals at bit rates of up to 21.6Gbps over lengths of up to over 15m, with support for uncompressed DisplayPort resolutions up to 4096x2160/60Hz.

Copper cables carrying high resolution DisplayPort cables over long distances must overcome several challenges, such as insertion loss, differential skew and jitter. Insertion loss is caused by cable capacitance acting as a low-pass filter, blocking higher frequency signal components. Skew occurs when differential DisplayPort signals get delayed and become out of phase when passing over a lang cable.

Both factors increase digital jitter, which worsens with higher resolutions, higher bit rates and longer cable distances.

Microsoft announces a wireless means for customers to share video or images from Miracast-enabled smartphones or tablets on displays armed with an HDMI port-- the self-descriptively named Microsoft Wireless Adapter.

The simple device features HDMI and USB ports, both of which are plugged into an HDTV, monitor or projector. It pairs with mobile devices without need for a companion app, and can either mirror output or extend displays.

Vision starts shipping new TC2 installation cables, including the High-Speed 4K-ready Category 2 HDMI cable with gold-plated connectors, available in the company's trademark white.

Lengths start from 0.5m patch cables and reach up to 15m. Cables up to 5m long use 28 AWG wire cores, 10m cables use thicker 26 AWG wire and 15m cables feature 24 AWG. According to the company a 6 AWG difference represents a doubling of thickness, meaning the 15m cables feature conductors twice as thick as those found in most consumer-class 30 AWG cables.

CMoDe announces a makeover for its uniDock on-wall mobile device charging dock-- the uniDock Aluminium, featuring 3 integrated connectors in a pull out and rotate design in either anodized black or silver.

It features a Lighting, rotating micro USB B and standard USB 2.0 connectors, allowing it to handle just about any device.

High-power 10W 2A output allows the dock to simultaneously charge 2 devices, and it also features an integrated LED night-light users can operate via touch sensor.

Installation should be easy enough as the unit fits a standard 35mm deep EU backbox.
