Chief Debuts Suspended Ceiling Projector System

Chief launches the SYSAUW-- a suspended ceiling projector system the company claims cuts install time by one-third through an improved suspended ceiling plate, column system, mount and universal interface.

Chief ceiling mountThe mount builds on the previous CMS440 suspended ceiling tile kit and Chief projector mounts. The RPT mount's absolute image control adds tool-free Microzone adjustment with a positive drive system keeping adjustments in one place once set, with no need for set screws.

The system comes out of the box in the order needed with the mount and column preassembled. The adjustable ceiling plate allows placement above or below tile, and accomodates inconsistent T-grides. Installers can also send the detachable electric plate to an electrician for pre-wiring.

Sony Adds Projectors at CEDIA Expo 2015

Sony launches 4 projectors at CEDIA Expo 2015, including the VPL-W5000ES, described as "the ultimate 4K home theatre projector," the 4K-capable VPL-VW665ES and VPL-VW365ES, and the HD resolution VPL-HW65ES.

Sony projectorBombastic descriptions aside, the VPL-W5000ES is the first Sony 4K resolution projector powered by a laser light engine providing 5000 lumens of brightness and up to 20000 hours of virtually maintenance-free operations. Designed for home theatre applications, it is high dynamic range (HDR) compatible, emulates the new ITUR BT.2020 colour gamut and covers full DCI colour space.

Connectivity includes an HDCP 2.2 compatible HDMI input, allowing it to handle 4K 60p signals up to YCbCr 4:4:4 8b-it or YCbCr 4:2:2 12-bit. A liquid cooling system makes for low noise operation, while the standard lens has a zoom ratio from 1.27 to 2.73:1 and lens shift capability of +/- 80% vertical and +/- 31% horizontal.

Stewart Filmscreen debuts Stewart Standard Solutions at CEDIA Expo 2015-- an initiative streamlining the selection process for the most popular screen systems from the company.

Stewart Solution Installers also get financial benefits for choosing from the preset product menu.

The Standard Solutions product list includes one fixed wall screen (the Luxus Deluxe Quick Snap Wallscreen) and three motorised retractable Electriscreens (Luxus Model A Wall Mount, Visionary Slotted Ceiling Recessed and Stealth Trapdoor Ceiling Recessed). Each are offered with either FireHawk G4 or StudioTek 130 G3 screen material, and are outfitted with a Stewart Intelligent Motor Control system and a 3-button wall switch.

Coming soon to a projector near you… HLD (High Lumen Density), a new LED solid state light source developed by Philips Lighting and branded under the trade name of ColorSpark.

A new digital projection technology that removes the need to turn off lights or close curtains, Philips ColorSpark is 3X brighter than existing LED projector technologies

This technology breaks through the Etendue limitation of current LED projectors that have limited their light output. HLD technology now allows projectors to reach the 3000 ANSI lumen level with the prospect to reach beyond 4000 lumens in the future.

In early 2016, the first announced projector brands, Optoma and Hitachi, will bring HLD-enabled projectors to market with more than 3000 ANSI lumens.

Qumi Q6The Q6 features an MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) port for users wanting to share video and audio content on the large screen from any MHL-enabled mobile device. The projector also has a USB port and embedded media player for direct display of documents, photos, videos and audio files.

Audio comes through built-in 2W speaker with multiple audio ports, while DLP Link and HDMI 1.4b support allow compatibility with 3D video.

Optoma announces what it claims is the first projector with DARBEE Visual Presence image enhancement-- the HD28DSE, a 1920x180 resolution number featuring 3000 lumens brightness and 30000:1 contrast ratio.

Optoma DARBEEAccording to the company DARBEE Visual Presence technology uses "neuro-biologic" algorithms to enhance the detail and depth of skin tones, textures and reflective surfaces, bringing about "amazing image clarity."

Epson launches a trio of affordable HD home cinema projectors-- the EH-TW5350, EH-TW5300 and EH-TW5210, all able to beam 2D and 3D images via lamps the company claims offer up to 11 years of use.

Epson projectorThe projectors deliver images ranging from 34-inch up to 334-inch, with 35000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (30000:1 for the EH-TW5310). The EH-TW5350 also has built-in Miracast for wireless connectivity with Android devices, while the EH-TW5350 displays split-screen side-by-side content.
