BenQ Unveils THX HD Display-Certified HT8050

BenQ presents the HT8050-- a 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) single-chip DLP 4K UHD home cinema projector complete with THX UHD Display certification.

BenQ HT8050The company says such certification guarantees the HT8050 accurately reproduces content the way the director intended. Requiring 10 times as much data analysis and 7 times the engineering effort and resources in precise colour and gamma adjustments for pure Rec. 709 compliance, the HT8050 is the result of over 18 months of rigorous development and 200 THX laboratory tests covering over 500 data points to ensure  strict colour accuracy, precise gamma, ideal colour temperature, enhanced uniformity and super high native contrast ratio for THX certification.

Draper Claims Biggest Thin-Bezel Screen

Draper Profile+Draper starts shipping the Profile+-- a fixed screen with a bezel frame 1.3cm thin available in sizes up to 9.1m wide for what the company calls the industry's biggest "flat panel look."

The  frame is lighter and easy to assemble thanks a new sliding hook-and-loop viewing surface attachment system. Optional LED lights frame the Profile+ with thousands of colour possibilities, and Draper also offers a Zero Edge option.

Stewart Ships HDR-Ready Phantom HALR

Stewart Filmscreen announces the Phantom HALR-- a High Ambient Light Rejecting screen material designed for fixed-frame wallscreen or electric roller screen applications, ideal for use both during the day or night.

Stewart HALRPhantom HALR is seamless in sizes up to 12.1m by 27.4m, and can be perforated for acoustic transperancy through Stewart Filmscreen's Cinemaperf or Microperf X2 Ultra technology. In addition the company says the screen is not susceptible to colour shift, and calibrates out to REC 2020 or REC 709 without colour aberrations skewing the primary and secondary colours.

Digital Projection Intros 5 Laser Projectors

ISE 2017 sees Digital Projection reveal 5 solid-state laser projectors-- the Insight dual laser 27000 lumen solid-state projector, the Highlite 4K UHD 3-chip DLP system, two E-Vision 4K UHD single chip DLP projectors and an addition to the M-Vision range.

Digital Projection iseThe company highlight at the show is the Insight dual laser 27000 solid-state projector powering a 4.5m wide 4K projection wall. The projector has a native contrast of 2000:1 and claims 20000 hours of maintenance-free operation. Also included is 3D support, dual flash processing and dark time.

Meanwhile the addition to the Highlite series provides a 4K option, the Highlite 4K UHD. The 3-chip DLP system boasts 12500 brightness and native 2000:1 contrast ratio. As for the E-Vision projectors, the two models offer picture in picture (PIP), edge-blending and geometry correction as standard together with a real-time clock for automation.

Sony Launches VPL-VZ1000ES Projector

Sony VPL ProjectorSony announces the VPL-VZ1000ES at CES 2017-- an ultra-short throw 4K HDR home theatre projector featuring a laser-phosophor light source ale to project a 100-inch image from just 15cm away from a wall.

Designed to fit smaller spaces than conventional home projectors, the VPL-VZ1000ES measures 93 x 49 x 22cm and weighs 35kg, making it smaller than Sony's previous ultra-short throw projector, the VPL-GTZ1. The Z-Phosphor laser light source generates 2500 lumens of brightness, and uses SXRD (LCoS) panels coupled with the laser light engine to push the deep blacks and bright colours HDR-enabled content demands.
