Foxconn CEO Takes IFA 2017 Stage

Foxconn CEO Terry Gou is to make a first European keynote at IFA 2017-- on 2 September 2017 Gou appears at the new IFA NEXT keynote area in Hall 26.

Terry GouThe keynote should have Gou speak about his experience at the what is one of the largest manufacturers of electronics and computer accessories worldwide. Gou founded the Hon Hai Precision Industry Company (aka Foxconn) back in 1975, and opened his first factory in China in 1998, specifically in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. The site still houses the largest Hon Hai Precision factory, and currently the company employs 1 million people, all producing electronics and components for a variety of telcos and OEMs.

Legrand Buys Milestone AV

Legrand, the parent company of Middle Atlantic, Luxul, ON-Q and Vantage, signs a definitive agreement to buy Milestone AV Technologies, the owner of brands including Da-Lite, Vaddio, Sanus, Projecta and Chief.

Legrand MilestoneFinancial details on the deal are not available, but Reuters reports it cost $950 million (or €835m), as based on enterprise value.

Legrand plans to bring the Milestone and Middle Atlantic brands under the Legrand AV division. Both Milestone and Middle Atlantic product lines should remain in the market place, making an AV offering the company can expand globally.

The CEDIA EMEA 2017 Awards Shortlist

CEDIA Harry PotterCEDIA names the shortlisted finalists for the projects categories in the 2017 CEDIA Awards, the celebration of the best in media room, home cinema, integrated home and superyacht installations from across EMEA.

The winner will be announced at the black-tie ceremony on 29 September held at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter.

“We have been overwhelmed with the standard of the submissions this year,” the organisation says. “The standard increases every year and it’s great to see the amount of professionalism and technical excellence our members continue to offer their clients. General Atlantic Sells SnapAV

SnapAVThe affiliates of Hellman & Friedman LLC (H&F) enter a definitive agreement to acquire AV manufacturer and distributor SnapAV from owner General Atlantic for an unannounced sum.

SnapAV sells glue products, security, networking and automation products to residential and commercial AV installers. It wholesales approximately 2700 SKUs across 14 brands, and serves installers across the US with an eCommerce model.

Vogel's Buys Marmitek

TV mount and support vendor Vogel's announces the acquisition of Dutch developer of smart audio and video applications Marmitek. The financial details of the deal are not available as yet.

Vogel's MarmitekAccording to Vogel's, the acquisition positions it more explicitly as a specialist in product-based solutions aimed at both home and professional markets. It should also strengthen the respective market position of both companies.

Post-acquisition Marmitek will remain an independent company, even if the two companies will benefit from each other's strengths-- Vogels's will make use of Marmitek knowledge in home entertainment, while Marmitek will take advantage of the Vogel's distribution network.

Vin Bruno Joins Rayva Board

Former CEDIA president and CEO Vin Bruno finds a new job as he joins the board of Rayva, the company offering the concept of pre-engineered, turnkey home theatre packages.

RayvaFounded in 2016 by industry veterans George Walter, Theo Kalomirakis and David Rodarte, Rayva is an effort to bring the dedicated home theatre back in the industry. It pitches turnkey systems complete with architectural drawings, audio, video, lighting and control products, acoustical panels, seating, and even installation and warranties.
