Extron Introduces Three Input HDCP-Compliant Scaler

  • PDF

Extron Electronics introduces the DSC 301 HD a compact HDCP-compliant video scaler. This scaler has an HDMI input, configurable high resolution analog and composite video inputs, and an HDMI output.

DSC 301 HDFeaturing an advanced scaling engine with 30-bit processing and 1080i de-interlacing, the DSC 301 HD handles output resolutions up to 1920x1200, including 1080p and 2K. It includes EDID Minder, automatic input switching, and simplifies system connections by embedding audio from one of the three stereo inputs onto the HDMI output. Designed for professional integration, the compact, low profile half-rack width enclosure enables simple and discreet mounting in many environments.

"The DSC 301 HD delivers high performance and a wealth of features at an economical price point," says Casey Hall, VP Sales and Marketing for Extron. "With its compact form factor, and compelling feature set, this scaler lends itself to basic applications calling for a three input switching scaler as well as more complex systems where multiple scalers are deployed into a large signal distribution system."

The DSC 301 HD offers several features to simplify AV system setup and operation. For HDMI signals with protected content, Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input sources and displays for quick and reliable switching.

When receiving an HDCP-encrypted HDMI input source signal, the DSC 301 HD provides immediate visual confirmation when protected content cannot be viewed on a display. Front panel controls, an intuitive on-screen display, plus USB and RS-232 connections provide flexible control and monitoring capability.

VGA over CAT5 Solution from Vision

  • PDF

Vision’s “Techconnect Twist” range has grown with the introduction of the new TC2 VGATP – a VGA over CAT5e system. Sold as a set, the transmitter presents as a normal Vision Techconnect VGA and minijack module from the front, allowing tidy clip-in installation.

Vision Techconnect TwistAudio passes through the transmitter, but VGA is sent to the receiver which plugs directly into the projector - via twisted pair cable up to 60 metres long. A power-over-ethernet system means only one mains power adaptor is required to power both the transmitter and receiver – and this can be used at either end.

Vision say AV resellers can take advantage in buildings which have been flood-wired with network cable. CAT5 cable is far less expensive than VGA and is easier to work with; it has a tighter bend-radius, is thinner, easier to pull, and simple to terminate.

Replacing VGA cable with a twisted pair cable means if in the future the users need to replace the VGA with HDMI or DisplayPort, then they can just change the adaptors at the ends.

SSP is £125 for the set which suddenly makes it possible for installers to stop using expensive VGA altogether and future-proof the installation with CAT5. In stock from February.
